Details of Disappearance:
On October 13, 1999, Appleton’s mother saw her around 5:00 p.m. near Northeast 9th Avenue in Amarillo, Texas. Appleton seemed scared but wouldn’t say why and refused to go home with her mother to Pampa, Texas. She disappeared completely.

Her family reported her missing in November 1999. She was last seen with a man named Ivory Tealer (“T” or “T-Baby”), who told police he didn’t know where she was and then stopped cooperating.

Leaving her young son and daughter was very unusual for her. She was divorced and her kids lived with her mother, but she saw them often. She hasn’t contacted them since disappearing, and hasn’t collected child support payments either.

In August 2000, Appleton’s mother got an anonymous call from a man claiming to be in a gang. He said he’d witnessed Appleton’s murder at an Amarillo hog farm and that her body would never be found. The call ended before she could get more information, and police couldn’t confirm it.

Appleton’s brother, a police officer, said she might have been involved with gangs, drugs, and prostitution in Amarillo, where she often visited. He stressed that she would never abandon her children. There’s speculation she might have gone to El Paso, Houston, or Baltimore.

The case remains unsolved.
