Details of Disappearance:
Bowie disappeared from her Atlanta apartment complex on Gables Drive. Witnesses heard a scream around 11 pm and saw two men in a maroon Mercury Sable speeding away. Police found her belongings—a jacket, jewelry, etc.—scattered in the parking lot. The car was found burned the next day.

Jasper Keels was arrested for stealing the car. Two weeks before Bowie vanished, she and her fiancé, Rico Walters, were arrested for having marijuana and a gun in her car (charges later dropped). Walters was in jail when Bowie disappeared, and police don’t consider him a suspect.

Bowie was a successful accountant and businesswoman who had previously worked briefly as an exotic dancer. She seemed fine when she saw her lawyer hours before her abduction.

Keels was initially charged with car theft, then later with Bowie’s kidnapping. Police believe the kidnapping was not random and may be linked to drugs. They think more arrests will follow.

Bowie’s body hasn’t been found, and her case remains unsolved. Police suspect foul play. She was a bright, successful woman with a close family in Pittsburgh, where she grew up.
