Details of Disappearance:

In September 1958, in Goliad, Texas, two young children, Myrisha and her brother A.J., vanished. Their father, A.J. Campbell Sr., had a history of abusing their mother, Jewel. After Jewel left him, A.J. Sr. had court-ordered visits with the children. One Saturday, he took them for a visit and never brought them home.

A friend, William Randle Jr., was with A.J. Sr. that day. They drove around in Randle’s car, even stopping to buy lard. A.J. Sr. then made Randle get out of the car, saying he needed to see someone. When A.J. Sr. returned, the children were gone. He claimed he’d left them with a relative after a fight. He acted very nervous and suspicious.

A.J. Sr. never returned Randle’s car, and the next day, he called a minister, hinting that he’d killed the children and planned to kill himself. His body was later found in the car, a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He left a note for Jewel saying he’d buried the children, but their bodies were never found.

Jewel remarried and had more children, but she never stopped hoping for answers. Her children from her second marriage continue to search for Myrisha and A.J. Jr., holding out hope that they might still be alive. The mystery of what happened to the children remains unsolved.
