Details of Disappearance:
In March 2009, Susan Moyer vanished. The last confirmed sighting was March 6th, when she left work, drove a coworker home, and shopped at a grocery store. Two days later, her daughters returned from their dad’s house to find their mom missing. Her home was undisturbed – her belongings were inside, her car was outside, and nothing suggested a break-in or struggle. It seemed highly unlikely she left willingly, especially since she didn’t have her phone, and her bank accounts and credit cards remained untouched.

Years later, in July 2019, Eric Roberts, Moyer’s coworker and neighbor, confessed to killing her. He claimed he accidentally strangled her during rough sex at his house. However, he later retracted his confession.

Roberts had a history of violence. A former girlfriend described his violent tendencies, especially when drinking. Witnesses noted that he stopped having parties and camping on his property after Moyer’s disappearance, after building a strange concrete structure. His girlfriend said he admitted to having a relationship with Moyer and angrily dismissed her mother’s questions about Moyer’s disappearance.

Police searched Roberts’ home extensively but found no remains. Though they arrested him, the lack of sufficient evidence prevented immediate murder charges. He’s currently in custody on other charges, and prosecutors hope to eventually charge him with Moyer’s murder. Moyer’s estranged husband is not a suspect. The circumstances strongly suggest foul play.
