Details of Disappearance:
On April 12, 1981, a woman named Wilson disappeared from her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her boyfriend, Billy Beets, said she seemed fine that day but skipped church. They left her house around 4:00 p.m., with Wilson planning to get gas and visit a friend. Beets claims to have seen her driving away an hour later. She never arrived at her friend’s, and was never heard from again.

Beets reported her missing the next day. Two days later, Wilson’s white 1978 Ford Fairmont (license plate DOY 622) was found abandoned at a Kmart, but she wasn’t there.

Wilson was a responsible, well-off woman who wouldn’t normally disappear without a trace. She’d moved to Cedar Rapids from Chicago, bought a house, and had a good job. Suspicions immediately fell on Beets. Although he wasn’t charged, he moved into her house after she vanished, failed to pay the mortgage, and only left when the house was foreclosed on. While his family had a history of legal trouble, there’s no evidence linking them to her disappearance. Her ex-husband is also not considered a suspect.

Despite police suspecting foul play, there’s very little evidence to solve the case. Wilson’s family, including her two surviving brothers, helped search for her, but she remains missing.
