- Anungazuk disappeared in Nome, Alaska on September 30, 1982. He’s never been found, and even though a coroner declared him dead, his body was never discovered. Since the 1960s, about 20 other Native Alaskans have disappeared or died mysteriously in the Nome area. Police investigated, but they don’t think one person was responsible for all these cases.
