- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Black/brown hair, hazel eyes. Nicole has a tattoo of a fighting Irishman on the inside of her right ankle. She has surgical scars on her back and right hip, and has a seven-inch metal rod implanted in her back to support her spine; this was to treat scoliosis. Nicole frequently dyes her hair different colors, and she had red highlights in it when she went missing. Her nickname is Nicky.
- Details of Disappearance:
- Nicole, a teenager, disappeared on March 12, 1995, after going to Long Island to see her new boyfriend, Louis Urcinoli. She was supposed to call her parents, but she never did.
Although Nicole and Louis seemed to have a good relationship at first (her parents even liked him!), things changed quickly. Louis later claimed they argued in Brooklyn and she left him. However, Nicole’s family found this suspicious because she left behind her favorite Mickey Mouse backpack, which she always carried.
Police investigated Louis’s motel room and found bloodstains and some of Nicole’s belongings, indicating a struggle and an attempt to clean up the scene. Louis eventually confessed to his uncle that he killed Nicole, disposing of her body in a dumpster on Long Island. He then ran away but was caught in California.
Louis was convicted of Nicole’s murder and attempted murder of his uncle and the uncle’s wife (to keep them from testifying). He’s serving a life sentence plus 20 years with no parole for 40 years. Police believe Nicole’s body was likely burned, which is why it was never found.
