- In November 1989, Hintta, a retired custodian from Calumet, Michigan, went deer hunting near Kenton in Houghton County with a friend. They stopped to rest, and Hintta went off into the woods down an old logging road. He disappeared and was never seen again. His friend reported him missing a few hours later. Police searched the area thoroughly but found nothing. Hintta had an expensive gun with him. People think he might have gotten lost or hurt in the woods.
