- Details of Disappearance:
- A housewife named Huebner disappeared in Houston, Texas in June 1971. A tow truck driver with a history of rape and assault, Harry Lanham, confessed to killing her in 1972, but his confession wasn’t enough for charges. Lanham and another man, Tony Knoppa, were suspected of killing six other young women that same year. They were convicted of one of those murders, but Lanham and Knoppa were never charged with Huebner’s murder. Lanham twice claimed to know where Huebner’s body was, but both times he lied. Before his trial for the other murders, Lanham was shot and killed by police while trying to escape jail in 1973. Because Lanham was the key witness against Knoppa, the charges against Knoppa were dropped. Knoppa was released from prison in 1989 after serving 15 years. Huebner’s body has never been found.
