- Santos disappeared from Worcester, Massachusetts on May 20, 2009. She was reported missing two days later when she didn’t show up for work.
Her ex-boyfriend, Albert Carabba, had a restraining order against him that was set to expire just days after Santos vanished. Her current boyfriend saw Carabba driving Santos’s car on May 22nd. When the police tried to stop Carabba, he ran, crashed the car, and escaped. He was later arrested for other unrelated charges, and also for stealing from Santos and violating the restraining order.
Carabba claimed Santos told him she relapsed on drugs and was going to Florida, leaving him her car. However, Santos’s friends and family didn’t believe this story. They said she’d been clean for years and would never let Carabba use her car. Neighbors also reported seeing Santos and Carabba together near her home around the same time Carabba says they were somewhere else.
Police investigated, checking places Santos might have gone, but found nothing. There’s been no activity on her bank account since she disappeared. Although no one has been charged with her disappearance, police suspect foul play and the case remains unsolved.
