Details of Disappearance:
Egan vanished from Plantation, Florida, on July 21, 1975, after his shift at a company that processed horses. His friend, Paul Ruebottom, said they left work together, and that Egan made it home. However, Paul didn’t report Egan missing until hours later, after driving Egan’s Jeep. Egan’s Jeep was in the garage, his wallet inside, but his keys were on his dresser. Police couldn’t confirm Paul’s story.

Investigators considered the possibility Egan fell or was pushed into a machine at work that grinds up horses. They found no human remains, but the machines could have destroyed any evidence. They also checked if he’d traveled using his passport, but found nothing. Suicide and drug use were ruled out. Egan had no known problems and wouldn’t usually disappear.

Sadly, Paul Ruebottom died in a strange accident two years later. The police suspect foul play in Egan’s disappearance, but the case remains unsolved.
