Her ears are pierced and she has a slight space between her upper front teeth and a freckle between her thumb and right wrist. She may be known as Phyllis Benny and/or Phyllis Ecklison. Berry is a registered member of the Chickasaw Nation.

- On November 1, 1975, Berry disappeared. She was last seen at a big chili cook-off in Terlingua, Texas, a town near the Mexican border. About 10,000 to 15,000 people were there. Berry and her friend, who also lived in Odessa, Texas, had left their jobs and gone to Terlingua to camp. They brought all their food and clothes, and Berry had her Irish Setter puppy with her.
