Details of Disappearance:
Qua’mere’s story is a tragic mystery. His mother was only 15 when she met Damion Davis, a man who was much older than he claimed. Davis was abusive, and Qua’mere was born when his mother was 16. The family lived in Syracuse, NY. The mother left in 2006 and never saw Qua’mere again, but falsely told authorities she still had him.

In 2009, police learned Davis might know Qua’mere’s location. Davis claimed he’d given Qua’mere to a man named Yusef Ben Ali, supposedly connected to a Black power group called the Nuwaubians, in Brooklyn in 2007. He said Ali promised to care for Qua’mere. This story was proven false: Qua’mere was last seen in Syracuse in late 2008. Davis used many different names and the police didn’t believe him.

Davis was charged with child abandonment (later dropped), rape (of Qua’mere’s mother), and child endangerment. He was also convicted of assaulting another woman. A friend of Davis, Mustafa Burrell, was convicted of assaulting Edward Phillips (who sometimes looked after Qua’mere) because Phillips was asking questions about Qua’mere’s disappearance. It was later discovered through DNA testing that Davis wasn’t Qua’mere’s biological father, but he was still convicted of raping Qua’mere’s mother.

Police believe Qua’mere is dead, even though his body has never been found, and they may file murder charges. The case remains unsolved.
