- Rachel vanished in Pacific Palisades, California on September 5, 1977. It was 4:00 p.m., and she was walking home from the grocery store, just two blocks away. She was struggling with her groceries, but nobody saw her get into a car. She’s never been found.
Although some reports said she was wearing a swimsuit, that swimsuit was found in her bedroom, so she likely changed before going to the store. Rachel’s family had moved to California from the Virgin Islands (they’d originally been from New York City), and her parents were separated at the time. They both said they didn’t have anything to do with her disappearance, and they passed lie detector tests.
There aren’t many clues, but the police think Rachel didn’t just run away.
