Details of Disappearance:
Tener disappeared from her West Palm Beach, Florida home on August 25, 2004. Her 13-year-old son found her missing that morning. Her family reported her gone on August 29th. This was unusual, as she spoke to her mother daily. She left behind her car, her last paycheck, and valuable items like her driver’s license and jewelry. Leaving her son seemed out of character.

Her neighbor, Mark Barrow, was a suspect. He disliked Tener because she gave drugs to his girlfriend, Peggy LaSalle. Tener’s blood was found in Barrow’s van. LaSalle said she saw Barrow cleaning the van and claimed he confessed to killing Tener. He reportedly said they argued, he attacked her, and he disposed of her body in a canal. The canal was later flushed out to sea due to hurricanes, making it impossible to find her body.

LaSalle’s testimony was questionable because she was intoxicated and on medication at the time of the alleged confession. Barrow claimed he’d had a party the night Tener disappeared, and she visited him twice. He said he was drunk and she left alive. His lawyers argued she ran away.

Barrow was convicted in 2007, but the conviction was overturned. He was retried and convicted again in 2018, receiving a life sentence. Even though Tener’s body was never found, the evidence strongly suggests foul play.
