- Details of Disappearance:
- Randi Evers vanished from his Las Vegas home on the night of February 15, 1992. He was last seen asleep, wrapped in a blanket, around midnight during his father Mike’s birthday party. About 15 guests were at the party.
It’s unlikely Randi wandered off; it was cold, and he was afraid of the dark. His family thinks he was kidnapped, but police initially suspected family members, especially his father Mike and stepmother Tina, who seemed uninterested in the search and gave unhelpful statements. Tina’s story about going to a casino that night had inconsistencies.
When the family returned from the casino around 3:30 a.m., Randi was gone. A big search found nothing. Mike and Tina moved to Southern California four years later and eventually divorced. Police say they weren’t cooperative but didn’t actively avoid authorities.
Many theories exist: Randi was sold, accidentally or intentionally harmed by his father and/or stepmother, or abducted by a stranger, family friend, or his biological mother. None are proven. Most people involved left Las Vegas after the disappearance. Randi’s biological mother (who had custody) is still alive, and Mike died in 2014. Tina refused to talk about it in 2022, saying the police ruined her family.
A grand jury reviewed the case but didn’t indict anyone. The case remains unsolved, but in 2015, a detective said a DNA match suggested Randi might be alive in the western US, leading the investigation to focus on a possible non-family abduction.
