- Details of Disappearance:
- On October 21, 1977, Ranee and her 17-year-old boyfriend, John, left home to get pizza. They were last seen around 10 pm at a gas station. John was supposed to return his family’s van by then.
The next day, John was found dead in the van, shot in the neck, parked at a secluded spot. Ranee’s jacket and purse were in the van, but she was gone. It’s believed she was kidnapped.
Edward Surratt is the main suspect. He’s in prison for other crimes and confessed to killing John, Ranee, and several others in 2007, saying Ranee’s body couldn’t be found. However, his confession wasn’t detailed enough, and he hasn’t been charged in this case. Ranee’s disappearance remains a mystery. She was a junior in high school at the time.
