Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, brown eyes. Raymond has a scar over his right eye and chicken pox scars on his face. He has a tattoo of a dagger and a snake on his forearm and several other tattoos elsewhere on his body. He smoked Lucky Strike cigarettes and habitually bit his nails in 1971. Raymond has a lazy right eye. His nickname is Ray and he may go by his middle name, Dale. He may use the last names Sudac and/or Merkert. He has previously fractured his leg.
Details of Disappearance:
Raymond and his new wife, Mary, planned a trip to his sister’s house in Des Moines, Iowa on November 26, 1971. They were living with Raymond’s dad in Omaha, Nebraska, and didn’t get along with him. Raymond told his sister they were leaving his dad’s place.

They never showed up in Des Moines and disappeared. Their car, a green Chevrolet, was never found. It was a blizzard that night, but searches turned up nothing.

In 1993, Mary’s family contacted Raymond’s sister asking about him, making some wonder if Mary’s family knew where she was. This is just speculation, though.

It’s possible they ran away because of family problems. There’s no evidence of foul play. Raymond’s dad, who is now dead, was never suspected. The case remains a mystery. A false report in 2005 said Raymond was found; this was wrong—he’s still missing. We don’t have much information about Mary.
