- Details of Disappearance:
- On February 5, 2019, Modrall disappeared after visiting her boyfriend, Joe Coker’s, house in La Quinta, California. They had a long-term relationship, but he was married, so she rarely went to his home. His wife was away, so he invited her over.
Modrall’s friend, Will, saw her earlier that day and was supposed to meet her again. She texted Will around 2:20 PM and said she’d only be at Coker’s for a couple of hours. Will texted her twice later, but she didn’t respond, and the second text wasn’t even delivered. Her sister also couldn’t reach her.
Coker said Modrall left his house around 5:00 PM, possibly heading to Thousand Oaks. That’s the last anyone heard from her. The next day, a homeless man found her work phone near a dispensary in Coachella and contacted Will. This was concerning because Modrall always kept her phones with her.
A welfare check revealed Modrall’s home was empty. Her rented truck was found abandoned a few days later. Police initially treated it as a missing person case, but later upgraded it to a possible homicide.
Coker, Modrall’s boyfriend, committed suicide less than a month later. Although he was never officially a suspect, his death added to the mystery. Modrall’s daughter, who lived with her grandparents, was expecting to have dinner with her mother the day after she went missing.
The case remains unsolved, with Modrall’s personal belongings left untouched at her home, further fueling the mystery surrounding her disappearance.
