Details of Disappearance:
Jeannie disappeared in Mauston, Wisconsin on December 19, 1949. A fire broke out at her home while her parents were away and her grandparents were watching her and her siblings.

Jeannie’s brother said a woman in a fancy car took Jeannie while he went to get help. But his grandmother said she couldn’t find Jeannie after the fire started.

Most people think Jeannie died in the fire, even though tests on some possible bone fragments weren’t conclusive. However, Jeannie’s siblings believe she’s still alive. They think the fire was a cover-up, possibly to secretly take Jeannie to her biological father because they suspect she wasn’t her parents’ biological child.

The case was reopened years later at the siblings’ request, and a DNA test with a Minnesota woman in 2006 didn’t find a match. The mystery of what happened to Jeannie remains unsolved.
