- On December 8, 1998, Peirce vanished. He was last seen at the post office near a shopping center in Palm Springs, California, at 3:30 PM. His caretaker briefly looked away, and when she looked back, he was gone. A big search didn’t find him.
Peirce used to be a school counselor. He’d wandered off before, but was found safe 17 miles from home. He lived in La Quinta in the 1950s, and his son thinks he might have been trying to go back there. There aren’t many clues to what happened to him.
