Details of Disappearance:
Harrod disappeared from his home in Placentia, California on July 27, 2009. He was getting ready for his new wife, Fontelle, to arrive from Missouri. His son-in-law left for a short time, and when he returned, Harrod was gone. Harrod’s wallet and keys were missing, but his car and glasses were still at home.

Harrod and Fontelle had a long and complicated history, reconnecting and marrying after many years apart. Despite living modestly, Harrod was a millionaire. Before marrying Fontelle, he had been lending a younger woman a significant amount of money. It’s unclear if this is connected to his disappearance. He also planned to add Fontelle’s name to some of his assets.

After Harrod vanished, his children tried to take control of his money and property. Fontelle fought them and even moved into his house. Eventually, after Harrod was declared legally dead, Fontelle was evicted.

Police don’t think a stranger harmed Harrod, but his case is unsolved. He had some minor memory issues but was otherwise healthy. His family is certain he wouldn’t have left without telling anyone. There’s been no activity on his accounts since he disappeared. He enjoyed fishing and gambling. The police classify his case as a possible homicide.
