- Thompson disappeared on June 15, 1973, in Spokane, Washington. He was traveling around a lot at the time, moving between Washington, Montana, Minnesota, and Oregon (where his family lived). He worked odd jobs—sometimes at circuses, sometimes cooking at restaurants, and often following traveling fairs. After June 15th, 1973, nobody ever saw or heard from him again.
