Details of Disappearance:
On April 5, 1991, Robin and her sister Julie were attacked on the Chain of Rocks Bridge in St. Louis. They were there with their cousin Thomas. Thomas told police that four men robbed them, raped Julie and Robin, and pushed them into the Mississippi River. He jumped in after them, but only he survived. Julie’s body was found later, but Robin’s was never recovered.

Police initially suspected Thomas, but later four men – Marlin Gray, Daniel Winfrey, Reginald Clemons, and Antonio Richardson – were convicted. They confessed, but some later denied it. Winfrey, the youngest, got a reduced sentence for testifying against the others. Gray was executed, Richardson got life in prison, and Clemons, after his initial conviction was overturned, eventually admitted his guilt and received multiple life sentences.

The case is considered a double murder, with foul play strongly suspected in Robin’s disappearance. Thomas’s sister wrote a book, “A Rip in Heaven,” about the tragedy.
