Details of Disappearance:
Bovit disappeared from his Vermont farm on May 6, 1986. He was last seen at home around 9 pm. The next day, he missed an appointment, and his disappearance was reported to the police on May 11th.

His light blue car was found stuck in the mud a few miles from his farm. There was blood in the car and on his mattress, which had been flipped over to hide the stains. The blood was Bovit’s. Oddly, he left behind a lot of money and all his belongings.

A man named Garth Drew, convicted of a murder around the same time, claimed Bovit’s body was dumped in Lake Willoughby, but a search turned up nothing. Police think Bovit was murdered, but not for robbery. Private investigators even suggested another man, who died three months later, might be responsible, possibly involving drugs, although Bovit didn’t use drugs.

Despite all the investigation, Bovit’s disappearance remains a mystery.
