- Details of Disappearance:
- Schrup disappeared in 2009. His dad saw him last in New Mexico on July 11th. A month later, on August 8th, his car was found abandoned in Colorado. It was dusty and covered in pine needles, showing it had been there for at least a week. His journal was in the car; the last entry said he was going for a hike.
Nobody has seen or heard from Schrup since. Police searched the area thoroughly, but found nothing. At first, they thought his handgun was missing from the car (he always carried it hiking). But his family found the gun hidden in the car when they got it back in 2011. What happened to Schrup is still a mystery.
