Details of Disappearance:
Johnsen Hughes went on a solo camping trip in California’s Sierra National Forest in June 2020, shortly after moving there from Hawaii. She may have been heading towards Yosemite.

Her family last heard from her on June 26th. On July 4th, hikers saw her near Johnson Meadows; she was barefoot, had a bruise, but refused their help. This was the last confirmed sighting.

The next day, her campsite was a mess, her stuff scattered everywhere – very unlike her. Her car, a silver Saab, was found nearby, crashed into a tree, but it seemed like a minor accident.

A month later, on August 9th, hunters saw a woman who looked like her (but thinner) leaning against a tree in the same general area. She didn’t seem upset and ignored them.

Johnsen had wilderness survival training from her college studies to become a park ranger. Despite all this, what happened to her remains a mystery.
