- Otis Rice vanished from his Oregon home on September 11, 2008. Three years later, in June 2011, his bones were discovered by a hunter in the woods very close to his house—only about a hundred yards away. A small-caliber rifle (.22 caliber) was found nearby. The police concluded that Mr. Rice had killed himself with the gun.
