Details of Disappearance:
In May 1986, a college student named Sikes disappeared after leaving her job in Galveston, Texas. Her abandoned car was found crashed and muddy, with a broken window and blood inside – but Sikes was gone.

Over a year later, a man named John Robert King confessed to the police, saying he and his friend, Gerald Peter Zwarst, kidnapped and killed Sikes. King said they buried her near his home. The blood in Sikes’s car matched King’s.

However, King later changed his story, and even though both he and Zwarst were sent to prison for kidnapping, Sikes’s body was never found. Zwarst also gave conflicting accounts, claiming he was high on drugs and didn’t remember much. He even helped police search an area based on a hypnotized recollection, but nothing conclusive was discovered. A blouse identified as belonging to Sikes was found, but tests didn’t yield significant results.

Police believe Sikes’s body was initially buried in the area Zwarst indicated, but moved later. King died in prison in 2015, and Zwarst remains imprisoned, awaiting a parole hearing. To this day, Sikes remains missing.
