- Details of Disappearance:
- Shelly Turner disappeared on September 30, 2006, after being seen at Slugs Tavern in Dayton, Ohio. There was a possible argument between her fiancé, Harold Barker, and her ex-boyfriend that night.
Barker’s story is that Shelly left with a man named Bill in a gray Pontiac Grand Am. However, Shelly left behind everything: her car, her paycheck, her two young sons, and all her belongings except her debit card, which has never been used since her disappearance. This, along with her leaving without warning, is unusual.
In 2009, Barker was arrested and convicted of Shelly’s murder. Multiple witnesses testified that he confessed to killing her, giving different versions of what happened. Some said he described dismembering and burying her body. A bartender at Slugs Tavern said Barker had mentioned doing something bad that could land him back in prison just before Shelly vanished. While Barker and Shelly appeared happy to some, a coworker said Shelly wanted to break up with him.
Barker was found guilty and sentenced to 28 years to life. Shelly’s body has never been found, but police believe she was murdered.
