- Details of Disappearance:
- Sherry and her young daughter, Johnna, vanished from their Richmond, Missouri home on June 6, 1986. Sherry had spent the evening playing cards; Johnna had a date and was dropped off at home before curfew. They were never seen again.
Their husband/father, Ronald Wrisinger, claimed they left him for a veterinarian. This seemed strange because they left behind all their clothes and uncashed paychecks. Ronald reported them missing three months later. He later divorced Sherry and was ordered to pay child support, which he did until October 1987.
Months before their disappearance, the family received threatening anonymous letters and experienced car vandalism. The FBI investigated possible extortion but found no suspects, and the incidents stopped once the FBI got involved.
Police initially believed Sherry and Johnna ran away, but the lack of contact and the strange circumstances led them to suspect foul play. Rumors circulated about their bodies being buried under a concrete slab at their home, but this was ruled out.
Ronald moved to Arkansas. In 2009, he was charged with their murder but the charges were dropped in 2010 due to the death of a key witness. He maintains his innocence, but could be re-arrested if new evidence emerges. Sherry and Johnna’s bodies have never been found. The case remains unsolved, and foul play is strongly suspected.
