- On January 23, 2010, a woman named Lange went for a walk with her dog, Hettie, at Point Reyes National Seashore in California. She never came back. Her dog Hettie was found alone that night, but Lange was missing. Her car was later found with her two other dogs inside.
Lange was a healthy, active woman who knew the area well. She was a former psychiatric nurse, a college teacher, and a volunteer for several local groups. Police think she may have fallen and been swept into the ocean by a surprise wave. Sadly, her body was never found.
