Details of Disappearance:
On February 5, 1988, Chism disappeared from Orlando, Florida. After calling his parents in Ohio and his girlfriend in Kentucky from the Altamonte Mall, he vanished.

Police later arrested Harold Suggs for stealing Chism’s blue Pontiac Grand Prix. Suggs was spotted driving Chism’s car and wearing Chism’s jacket near Starke, Florida, the day after Chism disappeared.

Three weeks later, police found Chism’s car with Suggs inside. There was blood in the car, and Chism’s bloody clothes and a crowbar were found nearby in a dumpster. DNA confirmed the blood was Chism’s. Suggs gave conflicting stories about his relationship with Chism, and he had no fixed address.

Although police suspect Suggs murdered Chism, they couldn’t bring charges because a key witness couldn’t testify, and the car theft charge was dropped. Chism’s case remains unsolved. He was a musician in a gospel group and planned to move back to Ohio.
