Details of Disappearance:
Tammy disappeared on June 2, 1987. Her parents dropped her off at her home in West Virginia at 3:00 a.m. Her husband, Gene, was asleep inside. Tammy chose to sleep in a tent outside instead of waking him. Her parents briefly left, but returned after hearing a door close, thinking Gene had let Tammy in. She was gone.

The next day, Tammy was missing. Gene claimed she left. Three days later, he borrowed a vacuum cleaner that was returned with a bad smell and sticky stuff – it turned out to be Tammy’s blood. Police also found possible bloodstains in the couple’s home.

Gene was later convicted of murdering someone else but claimed self-defense. He was also accused of Tammy’s murder but the charges were dropped due to lack of evidence. Tammy’s body has never been found, but the evidence suggests she was likely murdered.
