Details of Disappearance:
On July 6, 1983, 18-year-old Tracy Leppert disappeared. She left her Rockledge, Florida home at 11:00 a.m. with a friend, saying she was going to the beach and would be back soon. She never returned.

Her friend said they argued, and he left her in a Cocoa Beach parking lot near a Glass Bank and Exxon gas station. Contrary to some reports, she wasn’t barefoot. Her mother noted her unusual lack of hair-combing that day.

Leppert was a model and aspiring actress (appearing in *Scarface* and *Spring Break*) who planned to move to California for movie work. This never happened.

Police investigated two notorious criminals as possibilities:

* **Christopher Wilder:** A serial killer responsible for multiple disappearances, rapes, and murders of women. He was active in Florida around the time of Leppert’s disappearance, and sometimes lured victims with fake modeling offers. Though a suspect, no connection was ever proven, and his killing spree began a year *after* Leppert vanished.

* **John Brennan Crutchley (“Vampire Rapist”):** Convicted of kidnapping and a brutal rape involving blood-drinking, he was also considered a suspect but never linked to Leppert’s disappearance.

Leppert’s mother, Linda Curtis, believed the police mishandled the case and thought her daughter was afraid of the friend she was last seen with. Curtis also had a theory that Leppert’s disappearance was linked to her alleged knowledge of a large local drug and money laundering operation; however, police found no evidence to support this. Leppert reportedly acted strangely a month before her disappearance, exhibiting erratic behavior.

The case remains unsolved. Leppert’s dental records are missing, and some sources mistakenly list her home as Cocoa Beach. Her sister continues to search for her and believes her mother’s theory.
