- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian female. Brown hair, brown eyes. Breckenridge has scars under the left side of her lower lip, under her left arm and on the left side of her body. Her two upper front teeth are discolored in the center. Breckenridge wears contact lenses or eyeglasses. She usually has long, red-painted fingernails. Her ears are pierced.
- Details of Disappearance:
- On August 4, 1992, Breckenridge left her job as a waitress at a club in southwest Houston around 1:00 a.m. It was a quiet night, and she volunteered to go home early, which was unusual for her. A security guard walked her to her car, and she drove off.
She was heading to her apartment in northwest Houston when she disappeared. Her red 1986 Pontiac Fiero was found abandoned and locked a short time later, around 2:30 a.m., along her usual route home. Her car alarm wasn’t on, and her pepper spray was still inside, suggesting no struggle. However, the car’s alternator belt was missing.
Breckenridge’s boyfriend is a suspect. They had a difficult relationship, and she’d talked about leaving him. He claims he was at a nearby pool hall when she vanished and didn’t notice she was gone until 5:00 a.m. His story is questionable because her car was only a few miles from the pool hall, and witnesses saw him leave for about an hour and a half around the time she disappeared.
Police suspect foul play. Several young women were abducted in Houston around the same time, but it’s unclear if Breckenridge’s case is connected. She grew up in Del Rio, Texas, moved to Houston for a photography career, and had a religious upbringing with four siblings.
Her disappearance remains a mystery.
