Details of Disappearance:
On July 4th, 1982, Kawash disappeared from her home in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Her husband heard her talking to their daughter around 8:00 a.m., but left the house with their daughter at 8:30 a.m., leaving Kawash behind. When he returned at 11:30 p.m., both Kawash and her gold 1977 Datsun 280Z (license plate 338GIY, VIN GHLS30065266 – a picture is available) were gone. Oddly, she left behind clean laundry and a full refrigerator.

Kawash was in the process of a divorce, nearly finalized by the time she vanished. She was to receive over $250,000 in the settlement and planned to marry a Norwegian man and move to Norway with her 10-year-old daughter. Her husband planned to fight her in court over custody, a hearing scheduled for a month after her disappearance. Despite her being missing, she was awarded custody in March 1983. However, there’s no evidence she ever went to Norway; her passport was still at home.

Kawash was a responsible mother and beautician who enjoyed antiques and making Victorian-style clothes. Her style was eclectic, mixing Victorian and punk looks. Her family believes she wouldn’t have left without telling anyone. The case remains a mystery.
