- Details of Disappearance:
- On September 13, 2013, Ashley Whitton vanished. She was last seen at 2:00 AM with her boyfriend, “Red” Caudle, at a Walmart in Marietta, Georgia. Whitton, who seemed to be high on drugs, was stopped by Walmart employees for suspected shoplifting. She ran off, leaving her purse and shoes behind, and disappeared from security camera view at 2:04 AM.
Whitton had recently been fired from the IHOP across the street for stealing. Though she’d been fired, she still went back occasionally. After Whitton disappeared, Caudle went to the IHOP asking if anyone had seen her.
Whitton was very active online but stopped using social media after disappearing. This is strange, especially since she left behind her six-year-old daughter.
Police searched Caudle’s mother’s house (where he lived) ten months later, but found nothing. Caudle, currently in prison for selling meth, is considered a suspect. He claims he loves Whitton and doesn’t know what happened, but he lied about his actions the night she disappeared, and witnesses say the couple fought violently.
Whitton had a history of theft and drug problems, and was on probation for burglary at the time of her disappearance. Her mother believes foul play was involved in her daughter’s disappearance. The case remains unsolved.
