- Details of Disappearance:
- Shine disappeared in Harris County, Texas in April 1987. Police think her boyfriend, Michael Neal, killed her because he wrongly believed she’d ratted him out to the cops. Neal was a drug dealer and in a white supremacist gang.
He’s suspected of keeping Shine’s body in a refrigerator for months, then trying to get rid of it using strong acid. The fridge was cleaned, but police found tiny bits of her remains that matched her DNA.
Neal was charged with murder in 2000 and confessed in 2001. He already had a life sentence for another crime, and got another life sentence for Shine’s murder. He’s since died.
Shine had a good childhood and was a talented dancer, but got involved with drugs in high school. She moved in with Neal when she was 18. Her body was never found, likely ending up in a landfill. Everything points to her having been murdered.
