- Details of Disappearance:
- In April 1988, a police cadet named Coates disappeared from Warner Robins, Georgia. Her boyfriend, Terrence Mobley, reported her missing. He said he last saw her at a mall. Coates left behind a young child.
In 2010, police concluded Coates was murdered and buried. Mobley, already in prison for a different murder, confessed that Coates was killed in a house they used to share in Hawkinsville, Georgia. He said his ex-girlfriend actually committed the murder, and he only helped bury the body.
Police found blood in the kitchen of that house, supporting Mobley’s story. He told them where he buried her, but a search turned up nothing. The area had flooded, and police think the rain washed away any remains.
Even though police believed they knew what happened, no one has ever been charged with Coates’s murder.
