- Details of Disappearance:
- On December 28, 2003, Erno got upset during a car ride with his son to a golf course in San Luis Obispo, California. He asked to be let out and ran away from a nearby shopping center. The police were called, but despite a big search, Erno was never found.
Erno had his ID and credit card with him, but the card was never used. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, which caused him to be confused and suspicious at times, but he also had moments of clarity. It’s thought he simply wandered off and got lost. He knew the area well, having lived there with his son before. He also lived in other places – Arroyo Grande, California, and Auburn, Washington (where he lived when he disappeared and was visiting his son in San Luis Obispo).
Erno’s disappearance remains a mystery.
