Details of Disappearance:
In July 1982, a woman named Welch vanished from Roanoke, Virginia. She’d recently moved in with a male roommate and had a troubled past: she’d been in the army briefly, used drugs, and her boyfriend was in a motorcycle gang called the Pagans. Some gang members were arrested in a drug bust just before she disappeared, and there’s a possibility she was secretly working with the government. She’d worried she was in serious danger, even telling her mom that she was “in too deep.” Welch left behind a locked box with a letter inside, supposedly explaining everything. After she disappeared, the box was broken into and the letter was gone. Her roommate said she’d left, but Welch’s sister thought his story was fishy. The police investigated but couldn’t solve the case, and to this day, no one knows what happened to her.
