Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Gray hair, blue/hazel eyes. Brawner has a thirteen-inch surgical scar on his right leg, a surgical scar on the side of his neck, a scar on his hand from an accident that nearly tore off his finger, and a nickel-sized brown birthmark on the back of one of his legs. He is balding. His nickname is Bo. Brawner wears eyeglasses. He also has dentures, but he rarely wears them. Brawner suffered from osteomylitis, a severe bone infection, in childhood; as a result, his right leg is shorter than his left leg and he walks with a pronounced limp.
Details of Disappearance:
On June 10, 2008, Mr. Brawner vanished from his Shepherd, Texas home. His sons found his house empty on Father’s Day, with his van, medicine, cigarettes, and even clothes still in the washing machine. Because Brawner had trouble walking, and there were no signs of a fight, it seems unlikely he left on his own.

He was a loner, not close to his family, and hadn’t seen his son in years. His neighbor, Steven Ray Fester, is a key suspect. After Brawner disappeared, Fester illegally hooked his trailer to Brawner’s electricity and had a key to Brawner’s house – something Brawner wouldn’t normally do. Police found Brawner’s gun at Fester’s place, and Fester was convicted of stealing the gun and cashing Brawner’s forged checks. Although he claimed Brawner gave him these things, Fester only got probation. He was later convicted of armed robbery and is in prison.

Even though Fester is a suspect, Brawner’s disappearance remains a mystery. Police think he was kidnapped, and his family believes he’s dead.
