- Distinguishing Characteristics Caucasian male. Brown hair, green eyes. Stewart’s nickname is Gene. He has an appendectomy scar on his abdomen and surgical scars on his right thigh and hip. Stewart has no teeth and wears dentures; his dentures were left behind at home when he vanished. He is supposed to wear eyeglasses for reading; they were left as well.
- Details of Disappearance:
- Stewart disappeared on February 4, 2004, from his home in Gainesville, Georgia. He was last seen around 7:00 p.m. His family didn’t notice he was missing right away because his phone was disconnected.
When family members checked on him two days later, his house was cleaned up, but his clothes were packed in boxes outside, and his TV, VCR, and boat motor were gone. Strangely, he left behind his dentures and glasses, things he always wore. His family said he would never leave home without them.
Before he disappeared, Stewart had some big changes in his life: he’d recently connected with a son he didn’t know about, and he was trying to quit drinking. However, he’d been drinking again the day he disappeared, according to his daughter.
Stewart had a history of minor legal troubles (drinking and driving, etc.) and was facing a court case for battery at the time he vanished. It’s unclear if this is connected to his disappearance.
His family believes he wouldn’t have left on his own. The case remains unsolved.
