- On March 21, 2001, Wilburn and his wife, Barbara, were on their wooden boat, the Robby Lyn, in Suisan Bay, California. Around 2:00 a.m., the boat caught fire and sank near Ryer Island. They and six other people jumped into the water. Five people were rescued quickly, but Wilburn, Barbara, and a 15-year-old boy from Oklahoma named Keith Washington were lost.
Barbara’s body was found the following year, but Wilburn and Keith are still missing. Police think Wilburn drowned. Wilburn and Barbara lived in Turlock, California, and Wilburn worked at a Diamond Walnut Growers plant in Modesto. Unfortunately, there are no photos or records available for Keith Washington.
