- Details of Disappearance:
- On January 15, 2014, Tarrand, a 24-year-old man, disappeared in Groveland, Florida. His cousin dropped him off at a RaceTrac gas station around 7:00 p.m. Tarrand said he’d be back in 15 minutes, got into a black 1997 Honda Accord (license plate 236KPV) with another man, and left.
About 30-40 minutes later, Tarrand called his cousin to be picked up, but he wasn’t at the gas station. His phone went straight to voicemail afterward. Days later, some of his things were found dumped near Highway 50. The Honda, which was stolen, was found burned and with bullet holes in a landfill.
Tarrand’s disappearance led to a gang fight between the Groveland Boys (also called the Stuckey Boys) and the Zellwood Boys. This resulted in the murder of Justin Russell in February 2014. Tarrand’s nephew was convicted of Russell’s murder.
Tarrand lived with his grandmother and was close to his family. His mother believed a man he was having problems with may have been involved. His disappearance is suspicious and remains a mystery.
