Details of Disappearance:
Alam disappeared on June 25, 1998, after going to a job interview. He’d seen a flier for a landscaping job, and called to set up an interview at Union Station in Washington, D.C. On his way, police stopped him for not wearing a seatbelt. That was the last time anyone saw him.

His red 1985 BMW was found later, abandoned, but Alam was gone. He’d left behind his last paycheck and had little cash on him.

Two months before, Alam had interrupted a burglary at his apartment. The burglar, Christopher Wills, was arrested but released on bail. Alam identified Wills in court on June 15th. That same day, Wills made threatening phone calls saying he would “get” Alam. Alam vanished ten days later.

Police believe Wills created the fake landscaping job flier to lure Alam, then killed him to stop him from testifying. Wills was eventually charged with kidnapping and stalking resulting in death. He represented himself in court and was convicted, receiving a life sentence.
